Youth Forward MKE brought our community together to create a more equitable future for Milwaukee’s youth.
Youth Forward MKE was a diverse local partnership working to improve the success trajectory of Black male youth. At the heart of the work was a commitment to creating space for, building relationships with and shifting power to young people in Milwaukee – making sure their voices, experiences and ideas helped shape the systems that affect their lives.
The Youth-Led Grantmaking Project
In 2026, Milwaukee’s youth embarked on a journey of learning, relationship-building and community impact.
Our Youth-Led Grantmaking Project was a true experiment in shifting power, where our young people told us where community resources should go - then built out ideas to make it happen. Ultimately, five proposals were funded at $4,000 each, allowing them to take the lead in transforming our community.
