Coalition Launch Set for March 23
The Youth Forward MKE Coalition is officially kicking off on March 23 - and we want you there with us! Join us via Zoom to learn about the Coalition, what we're doing and why. Plus, get a front-row seat as we share our youth-led priorities for the coming year, and how we plan to impact education in Milwaukee and shift power to youth.
The Youth Forward MKE Coalition is comprised of six local youths, plus six adult co-leads representing various sectors. Together, this diverse group of individuals will work to improve high school education for Black males in Milwaukee, specifically focusing on three target areas:
Build Authentic Partnership: Youth Forward MKE will build stronger, aligned networks to ensure youth receive the resources they need. This work will involve building a plan to increase resources designated to mental health and workforce development.
Create Space: We work to center the perspectives and lived experiences of youth in all decision-making to ensure youth are heard and valued. Our team is already hard at work implementing the six youth-generated Design Your Future proposals.
Shift Power: Our ambassadors and co-leads will actively work to shift ways of operating to ensure young people are leading and driving decision-making. Part of this work involves the creation and implementation of a Youth Impact Assessment, which will highlight how proposed policies and programs impact youth.
